Room Upgrade Reports
I travelled in December 2019, in the check in process I slipped a $20 bill in my passport and kindly asked the staff member if there was a chance of an upgrade? No problem sir was the reply, upgraded to south tower, deluxe well away from lifts, really quiet room, more than happy.
Checked in. Upgraded to newly renovated room without asking!
I checked in with a friend. We had two separate reservations. I tried the sandwich and was instantly upgraded to a very nice petite suites. My friend did not do the sandwich and although we checked in together with the same clerk, he did not get upgraded. I must say – the sandwich works!!
Came in just after midnight on a Tuesday with nobody in line. Front desk lady was very nice and accommodating. I had asked if there was a possibility of getting a complimentary upgrade with a room with a wetbar knowing that was my best bet for a small upgrade. I ended up getting a smoking petite suite. Overall big bang for $20, I was nervous about reading some reviews about the hotel being dated. From inside this room I cannot tell. The other members of our group are staying throughout various locations across downtown and we decided that my room is going to be the pregame for the boys and getting ready for the girls.
We got to the hotel late probably just after midnight. There was a young lady and a more middle aged large man. I was walking up hoping for the young woman but the man came over and I saw he had the managers tag on, so I thought for sure it wasn’t going to work. When he asked for my credit card and ID I slipped a twenty in-between them. I said “I was wondering if you had any complimentary upgrades our anything right now, we are on or honeymoon.” He took it all but when he saw the twenty he said sorry but no and handed it back. I said ok, thank you anyway. He started typing away on his keyboard and just casually talking to us about our honeymoon and after a moment said he did have a room upgrade available after all. I handed him the twenty back and he casually put it in his jacket. He handed us two room keys. We had been moved from floor three to floor eight. This room had a little entry way the door and bathroom were off of instead of just being off the bedroom. The bathroom was way nicer than the one we booked. It had a beautiful all glass and stone shower with three adjustable shower heads and a very modern/ artsy style sink. The rest of the room was the same. However being on the eighth floor seems way better. This hotel is on Fremont street and you would bee able to hear all the outside noise all night, but on the eighth floor we were high enough to not hear anything. Plus the manager went out of his way to make sure we were happy every time he saw us.
All in all worth trying. The room upgrade would have been 32$ a night more so for twenty dollars we got a room worth $192 more. I was a little embarrassed when I thought it didn’t work but it went great.
I was very surprised how easy it is. We arrived on 3pm and headed to the first available clerk at the desk. A very friendly black female (age 25-30) asked us about the passports. I gave here my prepared pp with the 20$ bill between the first page & hardcover. At the same time i said: “Is it possible to get a room upgrade?”.
She recognized the bill, smiled and said: “Let me see what i can do.”
A few minutes later she gave us the keycards to our petite remodeled King Size Suite with couch, kitchen and many more extras you don’t get in a normal room.
I’ll definitely stay there again during my next trip.
It was about 4:30 Vegas time when we arrived at the Four Queens. A young lady behind the check in desk beckoned us, so we went to her. I told the clerk my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, and handed her my crecit card and ID, with the $20 bill folded in between, peeking out just enough to be visible.
She seemed excited that we were celebrating our anniversary, and I asked if any upgrades were available. She said yes, that a nice room was available, and told us how to turn on the Jacuzzi.
We thanked her and headed for our suite. The whole transaction took about five minutes.
Very nice room on the 12th floor of Fremont Street. Score!
Four Queens Hotel Reservations
We arrived at the Four Queens on Monday May 9th at around 3PM. The only clerk that was available was a younger female. She didnt seem like she was in a great mood when we showed up. I gave her my sandwich which had a $20 in it. Her attitude seemed to have switched when she saw it as I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She found one which I was upgraded from a standard room off of Hotels.com to the Petite Suite which values at $100 or more per night. She also gave us extra set of coupons and a VIP parking pass. Best part was my wife didnt believe that this would work, boy was she surprised!!!
Myself and two buddies were checking into two rooms at 4pm on a Saturday. All of the clerks were young ladies. I used the sandwich and asked if any complementary upgrades were available. Not only did she give me a suite, she moved my friends into a nice quiet room nearby. She asked if they minded sharing a single bed. They opted for two beds, otherwise I believe she would have upgraded them as well.
Four Queens Hotel Reviews
I tried the sandwich trick at the Four Queens Hotel downtown on Fremont St in Las Vegas. I was staying for 28 days on an Expedia prepaid lowest room rate. I was checking in on a Thursday about 2PM. I had placed $200 between the credit card and drivers license with both bills showing about half inch. I asked if I could have a complimentary upgrade to a 2 room suite as I placed the $200 sandwich on the counter more than half way to her. She was studying the computer screen and glanced at the sandwich. She said she could not put me in a suite because they were all booked up. I then asked for a room close to the elevator in the north tower away from the street as I took back the sandwich and made a small show of the $200. I got the smaller room I asked for and did not tip. I went back the next Monday with $400 in the sandwich and asked for an upgrade to a two room suite. I saw him notice the bills. The man said he would like to help me, but could not since I was staying so long, and that the hotel managers are the only ones that could help me, due to the amount of time. He said he could help me for a few nights, but the managers like to provide the suites to the high rollers. I said I understand and thank you for trying and went back to the small room with $400 for the rest of the stay.
